Cycle Synced Strength comes in four versions, each starting at a different phase of your menstrual cycle. To get the most out of the program, you need to start at the version that matches where you are in your cycle right now.
This guide will help you figure out which phase you are in and point you to the right starting point. It only takes a minute.
Where are you in your cycle?
Think about when your last period started. That day is Day 1 of your cycle. Count forward from that day to today. The number tells you roughly which phase you are in:
- Days 1 to 5: Menstrual phase (your period)
- Days 6 to 13: Follicular phase (after your period, energy rising)
- Days 14 to 16: Ovulatory phase (peak energy)
- Days 17 to 28: Luteal phase (energy declining toward your next period)
These day ranges are based on an average 28-day cycle. Your cycle may be shorter or longer, and that is completely normal. Use these as a guide, not a strict rule. If you are between phases, go with whichever one feels closest to how your body feels right now.
Start here: Menstrual Phase
You are in your Menstrual phase if your period started in the last 5 days. You may be experiencing lower energy, cramps or general fatigue. That is normal.
The Menstrual version of Cycle Sync starts with a gentle, lower-intensity week designed to support your body during this time. This is the recommended starting point if you are unsure.

Start here: Follicular Phase
You are in your Follicular phase if your period has ended and you are feeling your energy start to build. This typically falls around days 6 to 13 of your cycle.
The Follicular version starts with a higher-intensity week that takes advantage of your rising energy and improved recovery.
Start Cycle Synced Strength: Follicular Phase
Start here: Ovulatory Phase
You are in your Ovulatory phase if you are around the middle of your cycle (roughly days 14 to 16) and feeling at your strongest and most energetic.
The Ovulatory version starts with your power week, featuring the highest intensity and heaviest loads in the program. If you are feeling strong and ready, this is your starting point.

Start here: Luteal Phase
You are in your Luteal phase if you are in the second half of your cycle (roughly days 17 to 28) and may be noticing your energy starting to dip, or experiencing PMS symptoms like bloating, poor sleep or mood changes.
The Luteal version starts with a moderate-intensity week focused on stability and maintenance, easing you into the program without overloading your system.

What if my cycle is irregular?
Not everyone has a predictable 28-day cycle, and that is okay. Cycles can range from 21 to 40 days and still be considered normal. Here are some guidelines:
If your cycle is shorter or longer than 28 days, the phase lengths may not match the week-by-week structure exactly. Use how your body feels as your guide. The program's phases are designed around hormonal patterns, so if you know you are in a high-energy stretch, lean into the higher-intensity weeks. If you are feeling fatigued, match that to a lower-intensity week.
If you are on hormonal contraception that suppresses ovulation (such as the combined pill, hormonal IUD, implant or injection), you may not experience the same cyclical energy shifts. The program still works as a well-structured, periodized strength plan with built-in recovery weeks. You can start at any version and follow the 8-week structure as written.
If you have recently come off hormonal contraception, your cycle may take a few months to regulate. Start with the Menstrual version, as it begins with the gentlest week and gives you time to observe your body's patterns.
Not sure which phase you are in?
If you cannot identify where you are in your cycle, or you simply want to get started without overthinking it, we recommend starting with the Menstrual Phase version. It begins with the lowest-intensity week, giving you a gentle entry point to learn the program structure and observe how your body responds before the intensity builds.
